Seasons Greetings

Wednesday, December 29th 2004 @ 4:12 pm by Catherine

Firstly I should appoligise for the lack of posts in recent months, as you can imagine both of us have been very busy, we are still settling into our new flat and Richard’s job has been very demanding of his time.

We have be juggling with visiting both sides of the family in the last few days it is so much more complicated when you have to fit in two families.

We have received some money from people able to claim from their credit card companies since the Gift Registry is in administration. We are going shopping tomorrow to see what we can get in the sales to make the money go further.

And finally we would just like to congratulate our best man Pete who has recently got engaged and is getting married in the summer.

I’m sure that most of you who are reading the site have heard by now about the gift registry since it has been all accros the media. Richard and I are still waiting for the letter from the administrators before we can act further for guests who have paid money to them and need to claim.

Richard and I will be sending out letters at the begining of next week, if you want to know more before then please email us and we will do our best to answer your questions.

The Gift Registry – LIQUIDATION

Wednesday, October 13th 2004 @ 5:59 pm by Richard

My mother just e-mailed me to say “I am sure you have heard the bad news by now”… took be a good time to figure out what she was talking about, looked at the Gift Registry web-site.. They went into liquidation last week.

Can anyone who bought gifts via the Gift Registry please contact your credit card companies to arrange a claim and you can get your money back. Unfortunatly anyone who paid with a debit card or by any other means will probably not be able to claim your money back. The administrators have said that they will be writing to all creditors, again unfortunatly this could take some time as when a company goes into Administration, banks and secured creditors get money first, then employes then customers and other non-secured creditors.

I havn’t spoken to Catherine about how we are going to manage this but I will talk to her tonight when she gets back from Sign Language, we may have to set up a gift list with Debenhams or similar to allow you to buy the items we requested.

Watchdog and The Gift Registry 2

Wednesday, October 6th 2004 @ 4:44 pm by Richard

As promised here is the link for the watchdog report on The Gift Registry, I have been on the phone to them, and they said:
“the account has been flagged with a problem”
She (her name is Debbie) then went on to explain that this was usualy due to a credit card being declined, from one of the guests… now don’t worry as the Gift Registry will be contacting those who have had problems with credit cards.

They have said that they are going to phone be back tomorrow and explain to me exactly what the problem is.

I will keep you updated!

Watchdog and The Gift Registry

Tuesday, October 5th 2004 @ 9:47 pm by Richard

Some of you may of been watching BBC’s Watchdog and seen The Gift Registry on the program. From what my parents told me (as did not see it myself). The Gift Registry, have been very poor in the past when shipping out gifts, there has also be some incidents of people being given vouchers for all of their purches only to realise that the sum of the vouchers does not cover the cost of the gifts.

I will try and keep you posted.

24 Hours of Marriage

Sunday, September 5th 2004 @ 4:26 pm by Richard

Well Catherine and I have now been married for over 24 Hours, the day went so well, it is almost unbelievable that it wasn’t actually a dream. The biggest disaster of the day was Susan (Catherine’s Mum) throwing chocolate down her dress.

We got a chance to go and visit Catherine’s Grandfather in Hospital, as he was unable to see the wedding, so in we walked into the hospital me in full suit, waistcoat, tie and buttonhole and Catherine in her dress, veil with her boquet. It made for some very happy paitents, not least Catherine’s Grandfather.

We have opened most of the presents now, more still to come from the Gift Registry in a couple of weeks. 07:45 tomorrow we will be heading off to the train station to travel down to Cornwall, via Bath!, for our honeymoon.

Many thanks to everyone who made it a great day for us. God Bless

6 Days To Go

Sunday, August 29th 2004 @ 8:49 pm by Richard

Getting very close now, Catherine and I went to the wedding reception of one of my friends yesterday. It felt quite weird seeing them married and thinking that that will be us next week. They were both really encoraging to us, “Have a nice day” is much better than “Good Luck”.

It was very nice to see some old friends from HP, hopefuly I will get to see a some more next weekend. Although I reckon Catherine and I only get 2 minutes to talk to each person at the reception, so if you are comming then don’t be too offended if we only get to say “Hi.. How are you… got to rush…” we will endeavor to let you get a word or two in.

10 Days To Go

Wednesday, August 25th 2004 @ 2:45 pm by Catherine

Well it’s only ten days to go until the big day. Both Richard and I have a lot to do, there are still a lot of things to organise. I now know why people have wedding planers…

I’m just finalising the order of service, now I’ve just got to get it to print off corectly so I get all the pages in the right order, very much easier said than done.

We have our rehearsal in a week’s time so we may have some idea as to what we are doing on the day, I’m sure I’ll forget something and mess up the few lines that I have to say.

I’m staying with my parents at the moment, trying to get my room packed up so I can move, I’m very glad that most of my things stayed in the boxes from January when I moved back home. I’ve not got anywhere to put the boxes that I’m packing up though. The livingroom where the boxes would normally go looks like a larder with all the food and things needed for the catering as my mum is organising the reception. I feel before long I’ll be climbing over boxes just to get into my room here. It won’t be for long though since I’m back down to Brighton at the end of the week. I hope my dad can understand the system of which boxes and bags I desperately need or I’ll discover I have hardly any clothes and the extra duvet or books that can wait.

Oh and I’ve just remembered that I’ve got to pack for honeymoon. I hate packing and I’ve only done one box.

This will problably be my last post before the wedding with everything going to be so busy. I will see if Pete can do an entry after the wedding before we get back to let people know how it went.

For now take care and God bless
Love Catherine

Gift Lists, Invites and Utter madness

Friday, July 23rd 2004 @ 3:45 pm by Catherine

Well prompted by Pete (our best man) I am writing for all you addoring fans out there.

Things the last few months have been utterly crazy. Richard has been doing exams and then three days later started his job as ICT support assistant. Not long after that Richard moved into the lovely flat that we will be living in together come september.

With all of that we have hardly stopped. I’ve now got my shoes for the wedding so my outfit is sorted out, but I still have to decide on my hair and make up. Richard has his suit but still needs to sort out the rest of his outfit.

We have finially got most of the invites out for the wedding after a number of different problems with printing, directions for the church, addresses and actually getting the time to put them altoghther.

I want to also apoligise for the lack of gifts on our gift list, this is due to the shear volume of lists that the company are having to deal with and should be sorted out over the next few days.

We hope to keep writing the blog as much as possible but with so many different things happening and myself comuting regulary between my parents house in london and brighton to see richard I’m not sure how often that will be. I might recruit the our best man Pete and our Chief Bride’s Maid Kyla to help us out by doing some blog enteries.

Must go now since Richard is visiting me for the weekend and his room still needs to be sorted out.
