On the Move and Site Revamp

Saturday, October 28th 2006 @ 10:06 am by Catherine

I guess I really should have updated this blog much sooner, sadly it’s been over a year since the last post. I hope that it will be not so long until I post again but only time will tell.

I’ve been quite unwell since last autum which has left me very tired and able to do very little, now I’m coping a little better I’m finaly gettting back to the things I enjoy.

Richard and I will hopefully be moving before Christmas if not soon after to a house in Peacehaven which is to the east of Brighton on the coast. It’s going to be strange not living in the centre of Brighton but it will be nice to have a little more space.

Once we move we are planing to revamp the site, but as yet we haven’t decided what exactly we want to do. If there is anybody who still reads our blog, we would love to hear of any ideas you have.

Best Man

Monday, July 4th 2005 @ 8:51 am by Richard

Well, I managed it, I was the best man at Pete’s wedding. It went very well people even laughed at my speech which although not unusual for people to laugh at me, i feel they were laughing with me rather than at me.

On another note, Four Weddings and a Funeral was on last night, which brings me to another point… Catherine and I have been to 4 Weddings and A Funeral in the last year

Weddings:
– Pete & Vicky Bassett (Saturday, 28th August 2004)
– Richard & Catherine Slater (Saturday, 4th September 2004)
– Neil & Marie Isted (Saturday, 25th June 2005)
– Pete & Elkanah Arthur (Saturday, 2nd July 2005)

Funeral:
– Ralf Fennings (Thursday, 23rd September 2004)

Housey House

Monday, June 13th 2005 @ 9:51 am by Richard

Finaly Catherine and I have found a flat that we like the look of, it is just off the dials and about 20 minutes walk from work. I am very relieved as it was starting to worry me… now all I have to worry about is the references going through smoothly, all being well we should be able to move house in the last week of the month.

And just as a note, if anyone is looking for a house or a flat in Brighton, you honestly can’t go far wrong with Tanat-Jones they are based on Western Road just down from Waitroes towards Hove. They have been excelent working really hard to find us this flat, I am very impressed.

House Huntng

Monday, June 6th 2005 @ 7:07 pm by Richard

Catherine and I have been doing quite a bit of house hunting recently, we have needed to as our current tennancy agreement runs out at the end of June! Over the last week we have looked at about 10 houses, so far we have found three possable houses. The first unfortunatly was somewhat over valued and we had to turn it down although the location, space and decour was almost exactly what we wanted. Interestingly enough it is still on the market.

Two other properties are much of a muchness, they have about the same space and cost the same, both are converted houses (something I think I prefer over flats) I haven’t seen the second one myself.

We did take a look at a house in Hove that made us (and the letting agent) laugh, first of all the banister was very very loose… and i mean one swift kick and it would be at the bottom of the stairs, then whatever we touched round the house seemed to either come off in our hands or not be what we expected.

Oh and one last gripe, it seems that Your Move wont give lettings for people who are not able to give them a Home or Work landline… there are more than a few people in the country who don’t have a need for a landline… why pay £10 a month just to have a phone that can’t follow you arround! My mobile serves us perfectly well if someone wants to have a conversation with us they phone us after 7 and we phone them back, I don’t see the arguement that “everyone must have a landline!”

Best Mans Speech

Tuesday, February 8th 2005 @ 9:37 pm by Richard

Pete Arthur of robotii.co.uk was kind enough to be my best man, and he delivered the finest Best Man’s speech that I have ever seen, he has kindly put it up on his website blog for us all to see:

Seasons Greetings

Wednesday, December 29th 2004 @ 4:12 pm by Catherine

Firstly I should appoligise for the lack of posts in recent months, as you can imagine both of us have been very busy, we are still settling into our new flat and Richard’s job has been very demanding of his time.

We have be juggling with visiting both sides of the family in the last few days it is so much more complicated when you have to fit in two families.

We have received some money from people able to claim from their credit card companies since the Gift Registry is in administration. We are going shopping tomorrow to see what we can get in the sales to make the money go further.

And finally we would just like to congratulate our best man Pete who has recently got engaged and is getting married in the summer.

Gift Registry Update

Friday, October 15th 2004 @ 3:34 pm by Catherine

I’m sure that most of you who are reading the site have heard by now about the gift registry since it has been all accros the media. Richard and I are still waiting for the letter from the administrators before we can act further for guests who have paid money to them and need to claim.

Richard and I will be sending out letters at the begining of next week, if you want to know more before then please email us and we will do our best to answer your questions.

The Gift Registry – LIQUIDATION

Wednesday, October 13th 2004 @ 5:59 pm by Richard

My mother just e-mailed me to say “I am sure you have heard the bad news by now”… took be a good time to figure out what she was talking about, looked at the Gift Registry web-site.. They went into liquidation last week.

Can anyone who bought gifts via the Gift Registry please contact your credit card companies to arrange a claim and you can get your money back. Unfortunatly anyone who paid with a debit card or by any other means will probably not be able to claim your money back. The administrators have said that they will be writing to all creditors, again unfortunatly this could take some time as when a company goes into Administration, banks and secured creditors get money first, then employes then customers and other non-secured creditors.

I havn’t spoken to Catherine about how we are going to manage this but I will talk to her tonight when she gets back from Sign Language, we may have to set up a gift list with Debenhams or similar to allow you to buy the items we requested.
